US retail sales decline unexpectedly: ASX poised to open lower

17 Oct 2019 - Following weak leads from US markets, the ASX looks set to open lower this morning. Retail sales in the US saw the first decline in seven months – this could bolster potential for a third Federal Reserve interest-rate cut. Gold producer, Beacon Minerals (ASX:BCN) has acquired the Panther lease near the Jaurdi Project in Western Australia.

Leading Index shows economic growth well below trend: ASX closes 1.3% higher

16 Oct 2019 - It has been a positive day of trade for the ASX, closing 1.3% higher. Silverlake (ASX:SLR) and Nearmap (ASX:NEA) shot up today. Shares in the Afterpay Touch Group (ASX:APT) slumped today. Westpac–MI Leading Index is showing economic growth rate is now well below trend after slipping further in September to its lowest level in four years. Sienna Cancer Diagnostics (ASX:SDX) CEO Matthew Hoskin will be stepping down.

Shares in Afterpay (ASX:APT) take a dip after broker call: ASX 0.9% higher at noon

16 Oct 2019 - The ASX rose at the open and managed to maintain momentum after positive leads from Wall Street and is now tracking 0.9% higher at noon.
