Shares slide on the last day of 2020: ASX closes 1.4% lower

31 Dec 2020 - The ASX ended 1.4% lower after failing to gain momentum after a drop at the open. Gold Road Resources (ASX:GOR) rose almost four per cent today while shares in GUD Holdings (ASX:GUD) dropped today after the company announced it has completed the acquisition of AMA Group’s Automotive Components and Accessories Division. All of the sectors ended in the red.

Final day of trading for 2020: ASX poised to open lower

31 Dec 2020 - On the final trading session of 2020 the ASX looks set to open lower this morning despite shares rising on Wall Street. The UK government has introduced stricter coronavirus restrictions for millions of people as cases continue to rise. Back home New South Wales and Victoria are on high alert for New Year’s Eve gatherings as Covid cases rise.

Covid-19 not necessarily the big one, WHO warns: ASX closes 0.3% lower

30 Dec 2020 - The ASX closed lower today, 18 points down or 0.3% lower at 6,682. The World Health Organisation has marked the one year anniversary of the Coronavirus pandemic reporting that the worst is yet to come. Afterpay (ASX:APT) shares fell today after a record high on Tuesday. The best performing stock today was the United Malt Group (ASX:UMG).

NSW records 18 new Covid-19 cases: ASX tracking 0.8% lower at noon

30 Dec 2020 - The ASX opened lower this morning. The S&P/ASX 200 Index is 55 points down or 0.8% lower at 6,645. Futures are pointing to a fall of 55 points. Shares in Growthpoint Properties Australia (ASX:GOZ) are down – their only news today was the announcement of Deborah Page to join their Board as an independent non-executive director. All sectors are in the red.
