Sterling soars amid Brexit deal hopes: ASX set to open higher

16 Oct 2019 - Following positive leads from US markets, the ASX looks set to open higher. It was good news in the US as stocks hit four-week highs. Healthcare and financials led the gains. The UK saw the sterling soar to a four-month high as the Brexit deadline of October 31st draws close. Wesfarmers (ASX:WES) yesterday launched a new sustainability website to provide updates on areas critical to the Group’s performance.

Nick Scali (ASX:NCK) shares drop on housing market woes: ASX closed 0.1% higher

15 Oct 2019 - After a drop in early trade the ASX managed to maintain momentum and closed 0.1% higher. Southern Cross Media (ASX:SXL) shares have fallen sharply on the back of the company’s latest trading update. Nick Scali (ASX:NCK) shares took a dip today after they released a trading update showing that difficult trading conditions have continued for the first three months into the current financial year.

Wall St slips on US-China trade deal doubts: Aus shares to follow lower
