Dow rose on report China likely to buy more US products: ASX set to open slightly higher

11 Sep 2019 - Following mixed leads from US markets, the ASX looks set to open slightly higher this morning. Wall Street managed to erase most losses in the final moments of trading. Treasury yields rose for a fifth day. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed up, following a report that China is ready to buy more US agricultural products. Silver Lake Resources (ASX:SLR) has extended its off-market takeover bid for Egan Street Resources.

ASX loses two days of gains, but JBH, APE hit all time highs: Aus shares fall 0.5%

10 Sep 2019 - Aussie shares lose two days of gains, but there was plenty of pockets of green with Woolworths (ASX:WOW) trading at 5.5 yr high, Santos (ASX:STO) at four year high, JB Hi-Fi (ASX:JBH) at new all-time highs. Bega Cheese (ASX:BGA) appoints a non-exec director with 16 years of ASX consumer staples experience. AMP (ASX:AMP) shares rise for fifth session. AP Eagers (ASX:APE) shares trade at all-time high.

Syrah shares drop after reducing graphite production: ASX tracking 0.5% lower at noon

10 Sep 2019 - The ASX fell at the open is now tracking 0.5% lower at noon. Syrah Resources (ASX:SYR) have seen a drop in their shares after reporting they will significantly reduce graphite production volumes after a drop in prices in China. Galaxy Resources (ASX:GXY) shares are rising as are shares in Whitehaven Coal (ASX:WHC). Ramsay Health Care (ASX:RHC) has appointed James McMurdo as a non-executive director.
