RBA Minutes: Market conditions stabilised but remain fragile: ASX tracking 0.7% lower at noon

21 Apr 2020 - The ASX fell lower at the open and struggled to gain momentum and is now tracking 0.7% lower at noon. Shares in aerial imaging company Nearmap (ASX:NEA) did well today. Meanwhile, shares in Metcash (ASX:MTS) declined as did Wisetech Global (ASX:WTC). The Utilities sector is the only sector in the green. PolyNovo (ASX:PNV) shares are up after their results from a successful trial.

US oil price plunges into negative territory: ASX poised to open lower

21 Apr 2020 - The ASX looks set to open lower this morning. As demand for oil collapses during the coronavirus pandemic, oil has traded in negative prices for the first time in United States history. Back home Virgin Australia is expected to go into voluntary administration. Tower insurance (ASX:TWR) estimates the financial impact of cyclone Harold that passed through the Pacific Islands earlier this month is NZ$10 million.

Energy sector drags on market: ASX closed 2.5% lower

20 Apr 2020 - The ASX has recorded its worst session in three weeks today closing 2.5% lower. Shares in Nine Entertainment (ASX:NEC) did well today as did Domain Holdings (ASX:DHG). Shares in the Southern Cross Media Group (ASX:SXL) and New Hope Corp (ASX:NHC) both saw declines. Kogan.com (ASX:KGN) report that March saw record growth of the Kogan.com Community with the largest monthly increase in Active Customers since their IPO.

24% of Australians are working less hours due to COVID-19: ASX tracking 1.3% lower at noon

20 Apr 2020 - The ASX dropped at the open and has continued to fall throughout mid morning trade. It is now tracking almost 1.3% lower at noon. Shares in Caltex Australia (ASX:CTX) dropped after and Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc. decided to not proceed with the acquisition proposal. Beach Energy (ASX:BPT) and its Joint Venture Partner Otway have issued Ocean Onyx rig operator Diamond Offshore Drilling Inc. with a notice of termination for the Ocean Onyx rig contract.

20 Apr 2020 - Following a rally from US markets, the ASX looks set to open steady this morning. The International Monetary Fund says the global economy is expected to shrink by 3% this year, before growing by 5.8% next year. It’s reported the Global economy may not fully recover from the coronavirus crisis by 2021. Fonterra Co-operative Group (ASX:FSF) say Chinese bidders are returning to GlobalDairyTrade auction.

China’s economy contracts: Aus shares close 1.3% higher

US unemployment reaches record high: ASX set to open higher

17 Apr 2020 - The Australian share market is expected to open higher this morning despite a seesaw session on Wall Street overnight and the released of fresh record unemployment data in the US. Ord Minnett has upgraded construction materials and lime produce Adelaide Brighton (ASX:ABC) from a hold to an accumulate, with a 12-month price target of $3.00.
