Trump acquitted in impeachment trial: ASX poised to open higher

06 Feb 2020 - The ASX looks set to open higher this morning as US stocks closed at new record highs. Shares also closed higher across Europe. Yesterday the Senate voted to acquit President Donald Trump on both counts in his impeachment trial. Nick Scali (ASX:NCK) has reported a fall in its first half profit, showing net profit after tax of $21.4m, down 15% on the prior corresponding period.

Philip Lowe says bushfires to take 0.2pp off GDP growth: ASX closed 0.4% higher

05 Feb 2020 - It has been a positive day of trade for the ASX the local bourse managed to close 0.4% higher. Orocobre (ASX:ORE) and Pilbara Minerals (ASX:PLS) saw rises and Resolute Mining (ASX:RSG) and Regis Resources (ASX:RRL) saw declines. CSG (ASX:CSV) report lodgement of court orders with ASIC approving scheme of arrangement with Fuji Xerox Asia Pacific.

AiG Construction Index improved marginally in January: ASX tracking 0.4% higher at noon

05 Feb 2020 - The ASX rose in mid-morning trade and is now tracking 0.4% higher at noon. Pilbara Minerals (ASX:PLS) shares are up today as are Orocobre (ASX:ORE) meanwhile Silver Lake Resources (ASX:SLR) and Regis Resources (ASX:RRL) shares have fallen. IAG (ASX:IAG) MD and CEO Peter Harmer has appointed Julie Batch as Chief Strategy & Innovation Officer to lead a newly created Strategy & Innovation division.

Global markets rebound: Aus shares to open flat

04 Feb 2020 - Australian shares look set for a flat start despite global markets rebounding overnight. US Stocks rose solidly on Monday, regaining some ground after the previous session’s steep sell-off, but investors remain cautious as coronavirus fears linger. Oceania Healthcare (ASX:OCA) has announced that Hugh FitzSimons has resigned as a Director of the company.

Coronavirus boosts Jatenergy (ASX:JAT): Aus shares close 1.34% lower

03 Feb 2020 - The Australian marked tumbled today as the coronavirus continues to unsettle international markets causing investors to divest from oil, gas and travel stocks. The ASX200 shed 1.34 per cent - every sector except for Utilities posting losses. Health product company Jatenergy (ASX:JAT) experienced a sales boost on the back of the coronavirus outbreak.

IOOF Holdings (ASX:IFL) completes ANZ P&I acquisition: Aus shares 1.6% lower at noon

03 Feb 2020 - The Australian share market dove at the open on investor concerns over the economic impact of the coronavirus outbreak. According to Bloomberg, the country which was ground zero for the outbreak has seen oil demand drop by around 20% due to the virus. IOOF Holdings (ASX:IFL) has completed its acquisition of the Australia & New Zealand Banking Group pensions and investments business.

China pledges support to markets over coronavirus: ASX poised to open lower

03 Feb 2020 - Following weak leads from US markets, the ASX looks set to open lower this morning. China’s work and travel restrictions to contain coronavirus are deferring the defer the payout investors had expected after the US-China trade deal. Bond yields hit old lows. Fluence Corporation (ASX:FLC) reports FY2020 guidance for Smart Products Solutions revenue of at least US $32.0 million, up 20 per cent year on year.
