Asian markets close lower: ASX closes 0.1% higher

18 Dec 2019 - It was a flat lunchtime for the ASX but it managed to gain momentum and closed 0.1% higher. Cimic (ASX:CIM) shares have dropped despite their CPB contractors winning the $423m contract for Perth’s Metronet yesterday. Energy infrastructure business, APA Group (ASX:APA) has entered into a new gas transportation agreement on the East Coast Grid with AGL Energy (ASX:AGL).

Australian leading index falls again: ASX tracking 0.1% higher at noon

18 Dec 2019 - The ASX has been on a rollercoaster ride so far this morning. It is now tracking 0.1% higher at noon. Shares in Oil Search (AX:OSH) have risen today after they reported they expect to start early engineering work in Alaska and a rise in resources. Codan (ASX:CDA) have made a good start to the first four months of the year, with Metal Detection and Communications sales exceeding expectations.

The British pound slumps on fears of a hard Brexit: ASX poised to open higher

18 Dec 2019 - Following soft leads from US markets, the ASX looks set to open higher this morning. European stocks were mixed and over in the UK the pound fell more than 1% yesterday after reports said that the British government will block a delay to the post-Brexit transition period. Infratil (ASX:IFT) today announced that Chief Executive Vince Hawksworth will be leaving Trustpower for Mercury.

Lynas (ASX:LYC) shares fall after they fail to get Malaysian approval for higher processing: ASX closes 0.04% lower

17 Dec 2019 - The ASX slid around lunchtime and struggled to gain momentum closing 0.04% lower. Lynas Corporation (ASX:LYC) saw their shares drop today after they were unsuccessful in obtaining Malaysian regulatory approval for an increase in the lanthanide concentrate processing limit for Calendar Year 2019. Catapult Group International (ASX:CAT) ClearSky technology has achieved ‘FIFA Quality’ certification.

Financials the worst performing sector: ASX flat at noon

17 Dec 2019 - The ASX rose at the open then took a slight dip before lunch. The market is now flat at noon. Virgin Money UK (ASX:VUK) shares are falling on the back of the UK general election result where the Conservative party won a parliamentary majority. Warrego Energy (ASX:WGO) has agreed to acquire a minimum 50.1% indirect interest in El Romeral.

Trade deal sees global markets rise: ASX poised to open higher

17 Dec 2019 - Following positive leads from US markets, the ASX looks set to open higher. The partial trade deal between the US and China saw global share markets rise overnight. Tech and healthcare led the way in the US. Keytone Dairy (ASX:KTD) has completed the integration project between the two powder manufacturing facilities.
