A rally in tech stocks led by Apple also helped lift Wall St. US unemployment rate dropped which could potentially help American steer clear of a recession for now. Anti-hawking allegations against Commonwealth Bank (ASX:CBA) subsidiary: Aus shares 0.1% higher at noon

04 Oct 2019 - The S&P/ASX200 opened with a bang. Momentum faded into the middle of the session and it is tracking 0.1 per cent higher at noon. Shares in the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (ASX:CBA) have taken a dip this morning following news that the Director of Public Prosecutions has served criminal proceedings on its subsidiary, Colonial Mutual Life Assurance Society.

Global stocks fall on economic growth worries: ASX closes 2.2% lower

03 Oct 2019 - It has been a disappointing day of trade for the ASX. After opening in the black the local bourse failed to gain momentum to close 2.2% lower. Ooh!Media (ASX:OML) dropped today as did Nearmap (ASX:NEA). As for the sectors, Utilities lost the least and Telcos came in bottom of the pile. And Probiotec (ASX:PBP) has today completed the sale of the Celebrity Slim brand.

Trade balance misses surplus expectations: ASX tracking 2.1% lower at noon

03 Oct 2019 - The ASX dropped at the open and is now 2.1% lower at noon. The four big banks all dropped. Agribusiness Webster (ASX:WBA) shares shot up today after news they have been approached by a Canadian pension fund with a takeover bid worth $854 million. And Agrimin (ASX:AMN) has awarded Kerman Contracting the engineering design contract for the Wyndham Port Facility.

Dow drops after broad sell off: ASX is set to open lower

03 Oct 2019 - Following negative leads from US markets, the ASX looks set to open lower this morning. The Dow plunged more than 450 points as Wall Street continues its rough start to the fourth quarter. Treasuries climbed. Engineering company SRG Global (ASX:SRG) says Enzo Gullotti has resigned as Executive Director from the company.
