Australian shares opened higher, tracking a Wall Street rally led by Nvidia and metals stocks.
US equities rebounded overnight as investors bought into steel and aluminium producers. Gold hit a record high, while Brent crude climbed 1.8% on concerns over shrinking Russian crude flows.
CSL (ASX:CSL) has reported a net profit after tax (NPAT) of $2.01bn for the six months to 31 December 2024, up 7% on a constant currency basis. Revenue rose 5% to $8.48bn, while NPATA increased 5% to $2.11bn at constant currency. The company declared an interim dividend of US$1.30 per share, approximately A$2.08, up 16%. Shares are trading 1.23% higher at $273.66.
Breville Group (ASX:BRG) has reported a 10.1% revenue increase for H1 FY25, driven by strong coffee sales and growth in its Global Product segment. NPAT rose 16.1%, aided by lower interest costs, while gross margin remained at 36.7%. Net debt was reduced to $55.1m, and an 18-cent fully franked interim dividend was declared. CEO Jim Clayton cited strong product launches, market expansion, and resilient demand, with momentum continuing into H2. Shares are trading 2.01% lower at $36.96.
Memphasys (ASX:MEM) has completed the Last Patient Last Visit (LPLV) for its pivotal trial of the Felix™ System, marking the conclusion of all required patient visits and pregnancy outcomes. The company is now focused on data clean-up and verification, with data lock expected in about two weeks. Preliminary trial results remain on track for release in early March 2025. Shares are trading 14.29% higher at 0.8 cents.
Critica (ASX:CRI) has announced a maiden Mineral Resource Estimate for its Jupiter Project in Western Australia, confirming 1.8 billion tonnes at 1,700 ppm TREO, including a high-grade component of 500 million tonnes at 2,200 ppm TREO. The deposit is shallow, spans 42 sq km, and has low uranium and thorium content. Initial testwork has shown an 830% beneficiation upgrade. Located in a well-established mining district, Jupiter is one of six rare earth discoveries within Critica’s Brothers Project. Shares are trading 5.56% higher at 1.9 cents.
