Sydney Airport sees international passengers bounce back this month

 

Sydney Airport (ASX:SYD) has released airport traffic figures for August 2019.

CEO Geoff Culbert says “It was good to see international passengers bounce back this month – they were up 2 per cent on August 2018, and 1.4 per cent year
to date”.

Internationally, the most travelers coming through Sydney Airport are coming from China, followed by New Zealand, then the US.

Passengers from India were up 14.5 percent on August 2018, and 8.1 percent year to date.

The company has identified the Indian market as a strategic growth opportunity with only a single direct service currently catering to a population of more than 1.3 billion.

Shares in Sydney Airport (ASX:SYD) closed 2.3 per cent higher at $8.15.
